HISTORY
For 37 years the city of Milwaukee held an annual Veterans Day Parade. By
2000, after years of dwindling public support, the Veterans Day Parade was canceled. In
2001 a group of concerned citizens brought the Veterans Day Parade back to Milwaukee
in an effort to give something back to those who fought for our freedom.
The Veterans
Day Parade of Milwaukee, Inc. was formed, a non-profit, 100% volunteer organization to
insure that our veterans will never again be forgotten. Veterans and active military
participating in the parade has grown to over 1500 strong and come from all over
Wisconsin.
For the past seven years the Veterans Day Parade and Day of Honor has been
designated as a Regional Site for the celebration of Veterans Day by the Department of
Veterans Affairs in Washington D.C.
